The family of the late Sharon Ashton, along with community members are inviting the public to gather on Friday, September 19th at the NIS Carpark (Uptown) for a candlelight march and vigil in her honor and to stand against violence toward women.
The march will begin at 7 p.m. at the carpark and end at her home, where the vigil will take place.
Participants are encouraged to assemble from 6 p.m. to march together.
Limited candles will be provided, so attendees are asked to bring their own.
Everyone is encouraged to wear white or orange in solidarity.
On Tuesday, September 9th, Sharon Ashton was found lifeless with what appeared to be stab wounds at the back of her residence in Long Wall, Kingstown.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, police said.
Her death marks a series of recent incidents of violence against women that have gained national attention.
