Construction has commenced on St Vincent and the Grenadines’ inaugural commercial zipline.
The initiative, spearheaded by Coastal Adrenaline Inc., will result in the construction of an overwater zipline over Diamond beach on the mainland of St Vincent.
Upon completion, the attraction is expected to be among the longest ziplines in the Caribbean region.
Teams of both international and regional engineers were at the site today, 16 September, advancing work on the project. The project will also employ locals. The estimated cost stands at USD $450,000, excluding inspection fees (the prevailing exchange rate is $1 USD to $2.70 XCD).
“The international inspectors will allow us to become cruise certified,” the head of Coastal Adrenaline, Mr Jerrol Huggins, told One News SVG earlier today. The development comes after feasibility assessments which began in January 2025.
Despite steady progress, significant administrative delays have been encountered.
The delays, originating from the Lands and Surveys Department, pertain to the approval required for the use of Crown lands needed for the construction of certain landing pads.
Nevertheless, organisers remain optimistic that the project will be completed and open to the public on 26 December, serving as a belated Christmas gift to the nation.
In January 2025, Tourism Minister Carlos James hailed the private sector investment saying the zip line not only enriches the destination but also significantly enhances the overall tourism product offered by St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Coastal Adrenaline Inc. made history in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in April 2023 by introducing ATV tours to the country. The ATV tours have attracted locals and visitors including celebrities.
The company recently expanded its ATV fleet.
