Materials to assemble the first set of pre-fab houses were sent to the Southern Grenadines earlier today.

Minister of Housing, Dr Orando Brewster, said that as the Government continues the construction of Level 3 and 4 houses in the Southern Grenadines, they will be using pre-fab housing in the rebuilding process.

Minister Brewster said they have sourced the best quality material from the manufacturers, which can withstand the elements.

“We have made sure we got the best material. The metal is thicker. We have to make sure whatever we are sending is durable. This material will last more than 50 years,” Minister Brewster assured.

The bases for the pre-fab houses are already constructed, with 28 panels numbered in sequence. Trained teams will be deployed to assist with the assembling process.

Meanwhile, Coordinator of Housing in the Southern Grenadines, Chevonne Stewart, said she is excited by this development and believes it will help the overall rebuilding process in the Southern Grenadines.
