Woman-Pay For Your Liberation!

He build a house, he pull de strings,
Long years together, promises and things.
She lean on him, but sometimes too￾She find her way, she pushin’ through.

At last she hold a piece of ground,
Independence is sweet, it profound.
But he nuh smile—he vex instead,
For all the change he see,
Inside she head.

She stop depend, she stop run near,
All the time for self she spare.
He never give no tender care,
Now she free—he cyah bear.

He raise he hand, try justify,
“You a butt me, that’s why you lie.”
But truth be told, is nah so,
It’s freedom she want,
that she start to know.

She leave he house, she find a place,
Her own four walls, her breathing space.
No chain, no lock, no man control this,
Start sing Gyal Anthem Song
“No man can tek me fee fool!”
“My sugar plum a my own fe use!”
She start enjoy her life, she got a happiness in she soul.

But Vincy men, too much of them,
Love when woman depend on them.
He watching her,
“Is a man touch her, a man better than me?”
“Is a man sweet her, and de man ain me.”
Man start lose he mind, man start trip off in time.

Him think back,
Come live with me, I go care for you,
But mindless housewife is what you do.
Low budget life, no dreams to tend,
No self to keep, no joy to spend.

And then the news open,
Mammy hold she face
Daughter run cold and red:
“She stabbed to death,” the paper said.
“She hanged,” “She beaten,”—all the same,
Confirmed: her lover is the one to blame.
