The Cuban National Team will visit Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to play two friendly matches against SVG’s national team, known as Vincy Heat.

The Cuban Ambassador to SVG, His Excellency Mr Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, told One News SVG, “This project has been under coordination between the SVG Football Federation and our Embassy for several months now.”

Both matches will take place on the 5th and 8th of October at Arnos Vale Stadium.

Following these matches, the Cuban team will travel to Grenada for a further friendly against the national team of that country, the Ambassador said.

He added that this is the first time in many years that a Cuban team has visited SVG, a point also emphasised by the SVG Football Federation, which described the matches as historic.

According to the CONCACAF rankings, Cuba is ranked 19th, while SVG is 23rd, indicating a similar level of performance.

“It will be a great opportunity to be part of this clash,” Ambassador Rodríguez said.

The kick-off times for both matches have yet to be announced.
