Eight students from St. Vincent Girls’ High School (GHS) will compete for the prestigious title of Miss Heritage 2025, as the school hosts the pageant.

The GHS describes the Miss Heritage 2025 pageant as a celebration of culture, heritage, and tradition.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, 25 October 2025, at 5:00 p.m., with the venue to be announced.

The school stated that eight “culturally diverse young ladies will take the stage to showcase the rich heritage and culture of St. Vincent & the Grenadines,” adding that patrons can expect “breathtaking performances, creativity, and the grace of our young ambassadors under the theme: Mas, wey yo dey!”

The contestants and their sponsors are: Kerri-Ann Greaves, sponsored by Acute Cosmetics, who will depict Mas in We Market; Krystal Blugh, sponsored by KFC, portraying Mas in We Clothes; Ma’K-Lei Shallow, sponsored by ECGC, depicting Mas in We Dance; Elnora John, sponsored by Mustique Company, representing Mas in We History; Micah Williams-Jack, sponsored by Going Places, portraying Mas in We Street; Karin Providence, sponsored by SwiftPac, depicting Mas in We Spirit; J’Nya Pemberton, sponsored by St. Vincent Teachers Credit Union Ltd, representing Mas in We Music; and Zuriel Duncan, sponsored by BOSVG, who will depict Mas in We Talk.

Headmistress of St. Vincent Girls’ High School, Mrs Latoya DeRoche-John, told One News SVG that the school is “happy that we could give students the opportunity to get a little deeper into our heritage and our culture, where we are from, in a creative manner.”

She emphasised: “Miss Heritage is not a beauty pageant.”

“We give zero points for beauty of face, for physique, or anything of that sort. It is a purely cultural pageant. The categories are ambassadorial speech; a talent performance, which must be cultural in nature; cultural wear; and an interview. We pride ourselves on providing an even platform for the girls prior to the competition,” Mrs DeRoche-John said.

“So we make sure that they are all well prepared. Then on competition night, it is up to them to do the rest. This year, our theme is ‘Mas, wey yo dey!’ and we have different categories that each girl will be portraying.”

Mrs DeRoche-John added: “We are asking for the support of the Vincentian public. To date, we are still deciding on a venue. That is why no venue is listed, but it will be announced in due course.” She also stated that tickets will go on sale from 1 October and will be available at the GHS compound at Arnos Vale.

She expressed gratitude to the Kingstown Cooperative Credit Union for their continued support of the heritage brand as the lead sponsor this year.

“We thank all the other sponsors who have committed to ensuring that the girls are prepared for the show,” she said.
