Students across St. Vincent and the Grenadines can win electronics, cash, and other prizes in the inaugural St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund (SVGCF) Independence Poster Competition.

In celebration of the nation’s 46th anniversary of independence, the initiative seeks to encourage sustainable practices by inviting primary (ages 9–13) and secondary (ages 11–17) students to design an 18×24 inch poster using upcycled or natural materials such as fabric scraps, bottle caps, cardboard, plastic, shells, leaves, magazines, newspapers, and more.

The competition opened on October 1, 2025, with a submission deadline of Friday, October 24, 2025. Each entry must be accompanied by a short artist statement of no more than 150 words. Physical posters should be submitted to the SVG Conservation Fund office, located on the Ground Floor of the Beache Building, corner of Lower Long Lane and Higginson Street, Kingstown.

Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category, including electronics, gift vouchers, field trips, and cash awards.

Through this initiative, the SVGCF reinforces its commitment to education, conservation, and the sustainable management of natural resources while fostering creativity and environmental awareness among youth.

“The SVGCF is excited to launch this poster competition as a way to inspire creativity while deepening national pride. We see this as an opportunity for young people and the wider community to celebrate our independence through conservation and culture,” said Kenrick Chambers, Executive Director of the SVGCF.
