Area Representative for North Windward, Montgomery Daniel, announced that a new health facility is underway for Sandy Bay.

In an interview with the Agency for Public Information, Minister Daniel said that land has already been earmarked for the facility and designs have been proposed.

The government has allocated $9 million towards constructing, expanding, and refurbishing healthcare facilities in Bequia, Biabou, Byrea, Calliaqua, Cedars, Central Kingstown, Diamonds, Enhams, Lowmans Windward, and Overland. Health centres in Greiggs and South Rivers have been completed. Upon completion, these upgraded and rebuilt clinics will cost over $37 million.

A Safe, Modern, Accessible, Resilient, Technology-enabled (SMART) health clinic in Belair and an isolation centre at the Buccament Polyclinic will begin with funding from the World Bank.

A further $2.4 million has been allocated this year for improvements at the Mental Health Centre, the Modern Medical Complex, and the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Under the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Regional Health Project, $6.8 million will go towards improving health facilities and laboratory capacity, as well as strengthening public health surveillance and emergency management.
