A team from St Vincent and the Grenadines’ National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Labour is currently participating in a 10-day training programme, which commenced on 28 September and runs to 10 October 2025, at London’s Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, aimed at building expertise in plant science.
The programme is designed to strengthen the nation’s knowledge in these key areas, with the team receiving advanced, hands-on training in tropical nursery management, seed banking, orchid propagation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable landscape management, working directly with Kew’s global experts.
This initiative follows a recent working visit by a delegation from Kew Gardens to St Vincent and the Grenadines, held from 27 August to 10 September 2025. As part of that exchange, Kew specialists conducted a four-day intensive workshop on plant science, conservation, and garden management.

This training forms part of the 260th anniversary celebrations of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Botanical Garden, held under the theme “Our Garden, Our Heritage: 260 Years Strong!” — a milestone that honours the Garden’s rich legacy while investing in its future.
The NPRBA affirms that its partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, represents a significant step in building capacity and advancing environmental stewardship. It equips the Botanical Gardens team with world-class expertise and reinforces its legacy as the oldest tropical botanical garden in the Western Hemisphere, serving as a hub for research, conservation, and education.
