As the 2025 election campaign in St. Vincent gains momentum ahead of the official announcement of the election date, the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) will host a mass rally in London North Windward.
The event, titled the Warm-Up Rally, is scheduled for Saturday, 25 October at the London Playing Field in North Windward.
A highlight of the rally will be a performance by Jamaican dancehall entertainer Malie Donn, whose real name is Kimalie Hylton.
The NDP stated on its social media page: “We are fired up and ready to share the good news about our plan for a better SVG with more and better paying jobs. See you at our warm up rally in London on Saturday October 25th!”
Speeches at the rally will be delivered by Leader of the Opposition and NDP President Dr. Godwin Friday, NDP candidate for North Windward Shevern John, and other NDP candidates including Laverne Gibson Velox, Chieftain Neptune, Senator Israel Bruce, and Andrew John.
North Windward remains a critical seat for the NDP to regain in its bid to return to power in the forthcoming general election, expected before the end of the year but constitutionally due by February 2026.
Shevern John, the NDP candidate for the constituency who made her debut run in 2020 and lost by 62 votes to Unity Labour Party (ULP) veteran Montgomery Daniel, who has held the seat since 2001, will face first-time political contender Dr Grace Walters in this election.
Currently, the NDP holds six of the fifteen seats in Parliament, while the ULP, led by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, who is seeking a sixth consecutive term in office, holds nine seats.
