Opposition Leader Hon. Dr. Godwin Friday delivered an address at a political meeting in West St. George, accusing the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) of prioritizing self interest over national development and urging Vincentians to vote for change in the upcoming general elections on November 27.
Dr. Friday criticized the ULP’s governance record, alleging that major projects have disproportionately benefited a select few while leaving ordinary citizens burdened with debt and economic hardship. “They eat already,” he said, referencing claims of entrenched privilege. “Now they want to come back and eat again.”

He argued that the government lacks a credible plan for the future and has failed to improve the quality of life for the majority of citizens over its 25-year tenure. “Our country is worse off than it was when they came to office,” Friday said. “They don’t have a plan. They have a pattern.”
In contrast, Dr. Friday positioned the New Democratic Party (NDP) as the only political organization offering a comprehensive development agenda. He outlined proposals to rebuild agriculture, accelerate economic growth, and create opportunities in education, technology, and emerging industries. “We are putting in place the building blocks to make our country vibrant and wonderful after November 27,” he said.
Dr. Friday urged supporters to mobilize and “work like hell” to reclaim power from a government he described as deeply entrenched. “They know how to hold on to power,” he warned. “But we, as a free and decent people, must know how to say enough is enough.” Dr. Friday framed the election as a choice between stagnation and renewal, saying that his party the NDP has the plan to move the country forward.
