NDP Youth Leader: “Vote with Your Memory”

In an address delivered at a political rally in South Central Windward, President of the Young Democrats of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Mr Estaban Hernandez, issued a call to young Vincentians to “vote with your memory” in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking on a platform Hernandez described the night as “incredible” and symbolic of a national shift from locally , and even among the diaspora in the United States. He praised the NDP’s candidate for South Central Windward, Mr Israel Bruce as a unifying figure who transcends party colours and is committed to serving all constituents, regardless of political affiliation.

“He does not care if you’re red or yellow,” Hernandez declared. “He wants to know what you need and what he can do for you. That’s real leadership.”

Hernandez accused the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) of presiding over five years of hardship for young people, citing high unemployment, rising crime, and unfulfilled promises. He claimed that the ULP’s governance has left South Central Windward with “40% unemployment,” increased rates of violent crime, and deteriorating infrastructure.

“They’ve made big, bold promises and kept none,” he said. “They’ve kept opportunities away from you, your children, and your future generations.”

Echoing sentiments shared by fellow NDP member Terrence Ollivierre, Hernandez urged voters not to be swayed by last minute campaign gestures and to vote with their memory.

“They’ll knock at your door hoping you’ve forgotten the past five years,” he warned. “But don’t forget the bad roads. Don’t forget the broken promises.”

The speech marked a strategic push by the NDP’s youth wing to galvanize younger voters, positioning the party as the vehicle for change and accountability. Hernandez framed the election as a pivotal moment for Vincentians to reject stagnation and reclaim their future.

“This is the 21st century,” he concluded. “Young people want better and they deserve better.”
