The following is a public announcement by the NIS.
The National Insurance Services (NIS) has issued a reminder to all employers, employees, self-employed individuals, and voluntary contributors, that the contribution rate will increase effective January 1, 2026.
The current general rate is 13 percent split between employers (7 percent) and employees (6 percent).
Effective January 1, 2026, however, the contribution rate (Employee and Employer) will be 14 percent. It will be split between employee at 6.5 percent and employer at 7.5 percent.
The new contribution rate for self-employed individuals is 13.5 percent.
The new contribution rate for voluntary contributors is 12.84 percent from January 1, 2026.
“This adjustment is necessary to strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of the NIS and ensure the continued delivery of benefits and services to contributors and their families. It reflects our commitment to safeguarding the future of social security for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” the NIS said.
“We encourage all stakeholders to make the necessary adjustments to their payroll systems and contribution processes to ensure compliance with the updated rate,” the NIS added.
