Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday has confirmed that the fire which struck the Questelles Government School has destroyed the older section of the building that housed Grade 3 and Grade 4 classes, directly affecting 98 students and six teachers.

In a statement issued through the Office of the Prime Minister’s social media page, Dr. Friday said assessments have been completed and recovery efforts are underway. He noted that the Minister of Education, Phillip Jackson, has been actively engaged in the response, visiting the site alongside constituency representative Nigel Stevenson and key state agencies.

Arrangements have been finalized for the displaced students to be temporarily accommodated at the Camden Park Community Centre. The facility is being prepared and is expected to be ready for classes by January 12, 2026.

The Roads, Buildings & General Services Authority (BRAGSA) has already begun work to rebuild the damaged structure. Dr. Friday assured families that the reconstruction will deliver a facility that is “better, stronger, and more resilient.”

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the community for its support and reassured parents that their children will continue to learn in proper conditions. He urged everyone to remain safe as the nation moves into the New Year.
