Questelles Gov’t School Receives Cash, Meals and Equipment Following Fire

In the aftermath of a fire at the Questelles Government School on Monday, December 29, 2025, multiple donors have stepped in to support recovery efforts with cash contributions, free meals and equipment.


The donations were presented this morning during an assembly at the school, which brought together students, teachers, parents, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, faith leaders and community partners.


The Republic of China (Taiwan) donated EC$10,000, while the Mustique Charitable Trust will be providing daily meals for 120 children for two weeks and SOL St. Vincent Limited donated an industrial stove and gas bottles for the school’s kitchen.

Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to St. Vincent and the Grenadines Her Excellency Fiona Huei-Chun Fan delivered remarks underscoring the importance of solidarity and partnership in times of adversity.


Addresses were also delivered by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information, Phillip Jackson, and the Parliamentary Representative for South Leeward and Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Physical Planning, Nigel Stephenson, who both reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to restoring the school’s facilities and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment for students.


Head Teacher Donnette Ferdinand reaffirmed the school’s commitment to safeguarding students’ learning and well-being despite the setback and acknowledged the support of donors and partners who have contributed to recovery and rebuilding efforts.
On Monday, December 29, 2025, a fire engulfed a section of the Questelles Government School, destroying learning spaces for Grades 3 and 4, the school auditorium, and the kitchen and school feeding area.
