The Republic of China on Taiwan has donated EC$10,000 to aid recovery efforts at the Questelles Government School following a recent fire that damaged part of the institution. The donation was formally announced during a Thanksgiving assembly held on January 5, 2026, attended by students, teachers, parents, newly elected ministers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Her Excellency Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, Ambassador of Taiwan to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, presented the contribution on behalf of the Taiwanese government and people. In her remarks, Ambassador Fan emphasized Taiwan’s enduring friendship and solidarity with St. Vincent and the Grenadines, noting that “while it might be a small amount, it shows Taiwan’s care, friendship, and commitment to standing together when our community is in need.”

The assembly also featured congratulatory messages to newly appointed ministers and tributes to the swift response of the Ministry of Education, school staff, and community members. The Ambassador praised the unity and teamwork displayed in the aftermath of the fire, encouraging students to “dream big, work hard, and strive for excellence.”

Ambassador Fan highlighted Taiwan’s longstanding cooperation with St. Vincent and the Grenadines in education, infrastructure, and public safety. She cited the Argyle International Airport, the upcoming acute care hospital, and the installation of 320 CCTV cameras island wide as examples of bilateral collaboration. She also announced that over 12,000 Vincentian students have benefited from Taiwan bursaries over the past two decades, with 120 currently studying in Taiwan under full scholarships covering travel, tuition, and living expenses.

The donation to the Questelles Government School is part of a broader show of continued support towards education and infrastructure from The Republic of China on Taiwan.
