High Commissioner of India to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Subhash Gupta, visited the country today to review the progress of ongoing Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) and interact with relevant stakeholders.

On Wednesday, 14 January 2026, the High Commissioner inspected the rehabilitation of the Dauphine Community Center, the netball hard court at Edinboro, and the gym at Central Leeward Secondary School.

According to the Indian High Commission in Suriname, the visit also included inspections of projects successfully completed last year, reaffirming India’s commitment to community development and partnership with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

India’s QIPs in SVG are small, community-focused infrastructure initiatives funded by India to deliver rapid improvements in local life—such as refurbishing community centres, constructing schools, or enhancing sports facilities—under bilateral agreements.

Each project typically receives funding of up to $50,000 USD or $135,000 XCD.

SVG’s Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Republic of India on 13 November 2019. During the signing, then Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves explained that the MOU would address small projects capable of delivering quick results to improve living conditions.

According to a report by the Agency for Public Information (API), the Prime Minister thanked the Government and people of the Republic of India and, in particular, Prime Minister Modi, whom he said “has a hand on the pulse of the people and just like him has a profound commitment to helping the poor and marginalized and those who suffer from particular hardship and discrimination.”

Past projects include the construction of the Chateaubelair Agricultural Processing and Training Facility, the restoration of the Bequia Community Market, and the construction of the Glenside Recreation Center, among others.
