The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association (SVGCA) has clarified that Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, Kaschaka Cupid, will not be contesting any position within the Association.

The clarification follows an indication made at the Association’s last Executive Meeting, where it was stated that the Minister would not be seeking election due to his ministerial responsibilities.

According to the SVGCA, any previous indication suggesting otherwise resulted from an administrative oversight. “For the avoidance of doubt, the Minister did not express any intention to contest an election within the Association,” the Association stated.

Cupid currently serves as Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, having been elected as the Member of Parliament for West St. George representing the New Democratic Party in the 2025 general election.

He previously served as First Vice President of the SVGCA, having been elected to that position at the September 5th, 2023 Annual General Meeting, giving him experience in the organisation’s leadership prior to this latest clarification.

The clarification comes ahead of the Association’s delayed Annual General Meeting, ensuring stakeholders have accurate information regarding potential candidates.
