BREAKING: Several people feared missing at sea

The SVG Coast Guard is currently searching for several individuals feared missing at sea.

Reports are that a vessel encountered difficulties in the Brighton Salt Pond area this evening (February 21).

Police have confimed that one person has been rescued. The individual’s medical status is unclear at the moment.

The search is on for any others.

Unconfirmed reports are that approximately six people were aboard the vessel. One person managed to swim ashore.

In its 6:00 p.m. weather report, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services issued a Marine Advisory saying, “Small-craft operators and sea-bathers should continue to exercise caution for occasional northerly swells, breaking wave action, rip currents & gusty winds.”

The news comes weeks after a man drowned at Diamond on the Atlantic (Windward side). His body washed up in Buccament on the Caribbean Sea (Leeward side).
