Sergeant Gart DeShong, a dedicated police officer of 28 years, has launched two captivating poetry collections, The Other Side of Me Part 1 and The Other Side of Me Part 2.
These works bring his total publications to three, following the success of his debut, Behind Closed Doors, released in July 2025.
The volumes delve into the nuances of adult relationships, celebrating the profound power of physical and emotional intimacy. “The collection is exotic and evocative,” DeShong explains. “It honours not just love-making, but the intentional physical connection between adults.”
Encouraged by the warm reception to his first book, DeShong completed these sequels.
“There is a lot of poetry that you can read to your lovers, it’s very enjoyable,” he shares. “Both of you can learn a lot; it simply adds to your love life. These are books that enhance your love life, and you can even buy one for a friend.”
About the Author
Writing has long been DeShong’s passion, fuelled by faith, nature, and family. He credits his two daughters, his Christian beliefs, and moments spent outdoors as key inspirations.
“This is a gift from my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,” he affirms. “Inspiration comes in many forms—listening to my daughters sing, playing with them, or simply reading and observing nature.”
