Two officers of the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) have successfully completed a prestigious regional Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) development course in Guyana, marking another milestone in the Force’s investment in leadership training.

Sergeant Desran Simmons and Corporal Esran Simmons represented Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the NCO Professional Development Course 1/26, hosted at the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard Training Facility in Georgetown from February 2 to March 12. The programme was conducted through a partnership between the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) and the Regional Security System (RSS).

They joined 28 participants from across the RSS, including officers from Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. The course focused on strengthening leadership, communication, readiness, and operational competence, with training delivered through lectures, group discussions, public speaking assessments, examinations, and field exercises.

A central theme of the programme was the emphasis on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, principles deemed essential for ethical leadership and accountability in both military and policing contexts.

At the conclusion of the course, Sergeant Desran Simmons was named Honor Graduate, a distinction recognizing his outstanding performance and academic achievement.

Police officials say the officers’ participation underscores the RSVGPF’s commitment to professional development and modern policing demands, while also fostering stronger regional ties through collaboration and shared experiences.
