Daniel Cummings To Act As Prime Minister as Dr Friday Travels To Colombia

Minister of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health, and Energy, Mr. Daniel Cummings will serve as Acting Prime Minister in the absence of Dr. Godwin Friday who leaves the state today for Colombia.

Deputy Prime Minister St. Clair Leacock is also away on state business in Taiwan.

In a March 20 press release, the state-run Agency for Public Information (API) said: “Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Godwin Friday will travel to Bogotá, Colombia, on Friday, March 20, 2026, to attend the 10th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the CELAC–Africa High-Level Forum.”

“The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Mr Kevin Hope, Senior Advisor and Ambassador (Finance, Climate, and Investments), in his capacity as Personal Representative to the Prime Minister, and His Excellency Ambassador Gareth Bynoe, Ambassador to Venezuela,” the release added.

The summit which will conclude on March 21, will unite leaders from Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa to boost cooperation in trade, investment, and sustainable development. Prime Minister Friday will also promote key initiatives to foster growth and strengthen partnerships for the benefit of Vincentians, according to the release.

Mr. Cummings will run the country in the meantime.

The CELAC summit will conclude with the adoption of the Bogotá Declaration, outlining a shared vision for improved cooperation among participating countries, on 21 March.
