A pastor’s prayers were interrupted on Good Friday, an ordeal which ended with him being shot in his foot at his home in the Diamond community shortly after 4:15 a.m.
According to reports, a masked man approached the dwelling, shook the door, and the pastor got up off the ground where he was praying and opened the door. The intruder then fired a single shot, striking the pastor in his right instep.
The pastor, whose identity is being withheld, is receiving treatment at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. He is in stable condition.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which marks the second reported crime involving a church in recent days.
Between Palm Sunday (March 29) and Monday, March 30, burglars broke into a church in Arnos Vale, stealing cash and other valuables. That church was among several buildings targeted in the community.
