Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, three-time Olympic gold medalist and founder of the Pocket Rocket Foundation, has lauded St. Vincent and the Grenadines as “clean, quiet, just relaxed” during her first visit to the country.
Speaking in a radio interview on Hot 97, Fraser-Pryce contrasted the island’s calm atmosphere with Jamaica’s bustling energy: “The place is clean, quiet, just relaxed, as a Jamaican, we like the excitement still, but it’s a little getaway you have to just give credit to different places.”
She described her trip as refreshing and emphasised the importance of exploring and collaborating across the Caribbean. “If we unite, we can do so much more. People talk about big foreign, but the Caribbean is big foreign,” she said.

Fraser-Pryce is leading a Pocket Rocket Foundation delegation for a two-match football exchange, following the Foundation’s Peace Through Sports Six-A-Side Football Competition in Jamaica. Selected all-star players from that tournament are now competing against Vincentian talent in matches staged in partnership with Awesome Sports International, headed by former national footballer Renson Haynes.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is one of the most decorated sprinters in history, with eight Olympic medals and multiple World Championship titles.
Her Pocket Rocket Foundation, established in 2013, provides scholarships and mentorship for student-athletes, combining education and sport as tools for empowerment.
For St. Vincent, her visit brings international attention and reinforces the island’s reputation for hospitality and tranquillity.
