Kingstown (ON SVG) – The SVG Indian Heritage Foundation (SVGIHF) has cancelled its activities up to October 2020 in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a release issued on Saturday, the Foundation said the cancelled activities are the Annual Re-enactment of Indian Arrival Day and Rally scheduled for June 1 st, Yoga classes in June 2020, Training in Indian cuisine, scheduled for August 2020, and an Awards Dinner and Cultural Evening which was scheduled Indian Heritage Day on October 7, 2020.
The Foundation also advised its Elders that interviews have been postponed and thanked all eight (8) of its Elders, Walter Bacchus, Patrick Deane, Theresa Jack, Samuel Deane, Elese Louisa Williams, Sadie Bowman, Winston Bacchus and Noel Soleyn, who have so far completed
their stories, which have been shared on YouTube:
The SVGIHF said it “expressed solidarity with all Vincentians at home and in the Diaspora and empathize with all countries around the world including Motherland India that have been affected by the Corona Virus COVID-19 over the past months”.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved
ones, those out of jobs and all those feeling the effects of this worldwide situation” – the Foundation further stated.
The Foundation said it takes this worldwide situation seriously and implores everyone to be cautious, listen to the Authorities; be responsible and sensitive individually and collectively. SVGIHF is trusting that tests can be done widely and a vaccine be found to curb this deadly virus.
