Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – Concerns are being raised that some persons in the community of Greiggs have been exposed to the Covid-19 virus.
The concerns come amidst public comments made on radio by lawyer and politician, Israel Bruce, who suggested that the country’s most recent Covid-19 cases came from the South Windward community.
The National Emergency Management Organization, in a April 28 press release which revealed the country’s 16th Covid-19 positive case, stated “Today’s new case is closely associated with the last three cases reported by the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), and forms part of a small cluster of import related cases”.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment has not made any statement which suggests where the cluster of cases are.
A screenshot of a social media thread in which persons have exposed the names of alleged Covid-19 victims of the Greiggs community is also raising concerns.
A few weeks ago, the spotlight was on the North Windward community of Owia, where this country’s second Covid-19 patient is said to have stayed upon her arrival in the country.
She was not known to have had the virus while in the country until she was tested by local health authorities.
Some 144 persons had been exposed to the virus through contact with the individual who had broken a mandatory quarantine.
Calls were being made at that time in some circles to lock down the area.
