St. George’s, Grenada (ONE NEWS SVG) – One Vincentian national, Junior Charles of Chauncey, was among those caught in a recent drug bust, the Royal Grenada Police Force – RGPF, posted on Facebook today.
Grenadian police say the drug bust has resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cannabis, the confiscation of just over two thousand five hundred dollars, the uprooting of twenty-four (24) cannabis trees ranging from seedlings to four feet and charges laid against three persons.
The individuals, two males and one female, were nabbed on Sunday 10th May, 2020 about 03:30 a.m. during a search of a house in Mt. Granby, St. John.
Police say they are Junior Jamal Charles, 30 years, Carpenter, resident of Chancey Village, St. Vincent, Ramon Ogiste, 36 years, Construction Worker of Gouyave Estate and Della Simon, 33 years, Vendor of Douglaston, Gouyave, St. John.
All three have been charged with varying drug offenses including Possession of a Controlled Drug, Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply to Another and Cultivation of Controlled Drug.
A charge of Money Laundering was also laid against Junior Charles, police say.
Police investigations are continuing.
SECOND GRENADIAN DRUG BUST IN A MONTH INVOLVING VINCENTIANS
Two Vincentians and one Grenadian were detained on Saturday, April 18, in Grenada, as a result of a drug bust, Grenadian police say.
“A drug bust conducted about 03:00 a.m. on Saturday 18th April, 2020 in Non Pariel, St. Mark, by officers attached to Drug Squad and Coast Guard resulted in the detention of two Vincentians, one Grenadian” – Grenadian police said in a report.
Police say approximately 379-pounds of compressed cannabis were seized along with a fishing boat and, a stack of cash (XCD).
The drug is estimated to have a street value of EC$859,572.00
