Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – The National Insurance Services (NIS) says that the registration process for all seafarers eligible for the Displacement Supplementary Income Programme will be available online.
The online facility will be available from Wednesday August 5th, 2020, the NIS says.
All seafarers must have the bio page of their passports, a contract letter or disembarkation letter, and a bank account number for the registration process.
An easy and simple guide on the registration process will be provided on all social media platforms for the NIS on Wednesday August 5th, 2020, the NIS says.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said on radio recently that recently announced income support for sailors is to be paid through the NIS.
One News SVG understands that sailors who had to leave work from as early as December 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, will be addressed first in the payout.
The payout will be EC$300 per month for a 3-month period, One News SVG understands.
