Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – There have been conflicting reports about the status of former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Jonathan Nicholls.
Several local news agencies, including One News SVG were informed that Mr. Nicholls had passed.
In addition, a prominent lawyer had also posted the information.
But, it later emerged that Mr. Nicholls is recovering from surgery.
One News SVG was informed that one of his daughters posted on her Whatsapp status that “Guys my Dad is not dead!!!!!! Please stop spreading this”.
Another trusted source told One News SVG that “he’s home recovering from a surgery”.
It is not uncommon for news agencies to rely on information from prominent trusted sources and the information turns out to be erroneous.
The reports surround Mr. Nicholls came just after the passing of media and communication practitioner, Mr. Jerry George.
