Iconic local radio broadcaster dies

Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – Veteran local radio personality, Randy ‘D’ Dopwell has died.

According to the National Broadcasting Corporation(NBC Radio), Randy D passed away quietly after a period of illness at his home in Rockies at 11:10 p.m on Thursday January 14th, 2021. He was surrounded by his family.

In a Facebook post today, the National Broadcasting Corporation said it mourns the passing of Dopwell, who was a former member of staff.

“He was a well-known broadcaster who ensured that persons in the Diaspora had an avenue to send greetings to their family and friends back home. He has left an indelible mark on the media landscape in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and has inspired many of those in the profession today,” NBC stated.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the National Broadcasting Corporation, we extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the late ‘Randy D’. May he rest in peace.” the statement added.
