By Demion McTair. Updated 2:26 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).

The deceased – Romario Morgan.

A Vincentian employed in the Seasonal Farm Workers Program in Canada is dead.

Romario Morgan, 23, originally of the Grenadine island of Bequia, was today (April 29), found unresponsive in his room at a hotel in Mississauga.

Morgan was part of a batch of Vincentian farmworkers who recently travelled to Canada and had to quarantine, in light of Covid-19 protocols.

The cause of Mr. Morgan’s death is unknown but officials are investigating.

One News SVG contacted the hotel and the Canadian police on Thursday but they provided no information.

The news that Morgan was found unresponsive, however, was confirmed by Vincentian colleagues who are also in Canada on the Seasonal Farmworkers Program.

The batch of seasonal farmworkers left St. Vincent and the Grenadines on April 9 and spent a week in St. Lucia, after which they journeyed to Canada.

They were undergoing a 14-day hotel quarantine, in line with Covid-19 protocols.

The quarantine period was set to end tomorrow (April 30).

Morgan was fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as is the case with most of his colleagues, One News SVG understands.

One News SVG will bring more details if it comes to hand.
