A post by the SVG Education Media Unit of the Ministry of Education is currently causing a stir on social media in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The post made on Wednesday afternoon (November 17), called for potential teachers to apply for teaching positions at the primary and secondary school levels.
The post does not state that new applicants must be vaccinated, but it comes less than two days before the Government’s November 19 deadline for frontline workers (including teachers) to take the Covid-19 vaccine, or be put on the breadline.
Reports are that many teachers have so far refused to take the vaccine.
Some persons have said on social media that the government is engaging in scaremongering, but Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, in recent public statements said that he is not bluffing on the issue.
