A total of two thousand, three hundred and fifty seven frontline and other workers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are expected to receive five hundred dollars honorarium from the government.
This was announced by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on Wednesday while speaking on local radio.
The prime minister said a decision was expected to be made at cabinet on Wednesday on the final number of people to benefit from the honorarium, which will include volunteers who provided their service on the ground during the volcanic eruptions.
The prime minister listed the other categories of workers who stand to benefit from the pay-out. He said they are civil servants, police, teachers, prison officers and more nurses.
Responding to a call for all civil servants to receive honorarium, PM Gonsalves said people still have to remember that we are still in a pandemic and recovering from volcanic eruptions.
