Opposition Senator Israel Bruce has called out Parliamentary Representative for South Central Windward Constituency – Saboto Caesar over the collapse of a wall in the constituency.
A post on the official Facebook page of Senator Israel Bruce on December 31, 2022, stated that Mr. Bruce, “raised the issue of the embankment at Hadleys Village and the risk to residents. Nothing was done about it, now its gone worst.”
“Come on Sabby, Hadleys Village people deserve better treatment,” the post added.
“Sabby” is a popular alias by which Minister Saboto Caesar is called.
One News SVG understands that the wall is a privately-owned wall. No one was hurt and no property was damaged as a consequence of the falling wall, except for a burst pipe, but there are security concerns with usage of the road.
One News SVG contacted the area representative – Saboto Caesar on January 2, 2023.
Mr. Caesar said that the Roads Buildings and General Services Authority- BRAGSA continues to deliver for the constituency of South Central Windward and that assistance will be given for the reconstruction of the private wall.
He said he visited the site and he wants to thank the Central Water and Sewage Authority – CWSA on their rapid response in fixing a pipe that broke as a consequence of the fallen wall.
Mr. Caesar, lawyer and the incumbent has won the South Central Windward Constituency since the December 13, 2010 general election on a Unity Labour Party ticket.
He current serves as Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry & Labour.
Mr. Bruce, a lawyer, represented the New Democratic Party in his maiden contest for the seat in the 2020 general election where he lost by 239 votes.
Both men are expected to contest the seat in the next general election expected in 2025.
