The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Archery Association secured five medals, including two gold medals during its first showing at the World Archery Americas 5th Caribbean Development Championship.
The championship was held in Trinidad and Tobago from 29th September to 1st October, 2023.
The Archery Association of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, for the first time ever, fielded a Team of six (6) archers to take part in their inaugural international competition at this event.
In the final results, Jared Nichols captured a gold medal in the Recurve Beginner Under 18/21 combined mixed team category, a press release from the SVG Archery Association stated.
Divya Jiandani also captured gold for St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Under 18/21 Combined Mixed Team category.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Jared Nichols captured a silver medal in the Recurve Beginner Under 21 Men’s category while Divya Jiandani captured a silver medal in the Recurve Beginner Under 18 Women category.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Mariel Burgin captured a bronze medal in the Recurve Beginner Senior Mixed Team category.
Team SVG has stamped their name in the history books, taking home a total of five (5) medals. The Team was met with congratulatory greetings from all the other countries’ archers, officials, and even World Archery Americas themselves, the press release from the organization stated.
A total of 176 archers from 11 countries competed at the event at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Scarborough, Tobago from the 29th of September to the 1st of October.
