Some young Vincentians have said on social media that the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines should establish an aviation scholarship in honour of the achievements of Rochelle Roache-Lanza.
Roache-Lanza is a Vincentian-born American Airlines pilot who recently made history by becoming the first female Vincentian to fly an American Airlines aircraft into and out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Mrs. Roache-Lanza rose from humble beginnings, having grown up on the tiny Northern Grenadine Island of Bequia. She worked her way up in the aviation industry and is now an inspiration to many young people.
After the well-received December 9 landing at the Argyle International Airport (AIA), some persons expressed the view on social media that the government should create a scholarship to honour Roache-Lanza and pave the way for more aviation enthusiasts.
