Kevin Lyttle Junior, the son of Vincentian-born international soca artiste – Kevin Lyttle has won the finals of the 100 metre and 200 metre FLYRA Middle School State races in Florida.
The state-level middle school races were run under the Florida Youth Runners Association (FLYRA) Middle School State Championships held at Bradenton, Florida from May 3 – 4, 2024.
According to the official results, the 8th grader finished the 200-metre race in a time of 22.58 seconds.
Lyttle who is a member of the Miami Elite Track Club also won the 100-metre finals in a time of 11.13 seconds.
Lyttle Junior’s mother – Dr. Jacqueline James-Lyttle was also a star sprinter in the U.S. and was inducted into the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020, and was the first Vincentian to be so honoured.
According to the Vincentian Newspaper, she held the school record in the 100 meters outdoors (12.22) and previously held Coast Guard Academy records in the 55, 100, and 200 meters.
Apart from running, her son – Kevin Lyttle JR is also a social entrepreneur and pioneer behind Lyttle Feet, a registered Non-Profit Organization aimed at supplying shoes and other supplies to students in need, mainly in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, his father’s home country.
He receives support with his NGO work from his father and his mother. The family resides in Florida, USA.
