In what appears to be some communication confusion from the British High Commission in Bridgetown, a fourth Vincentian Chevening Scholar was revealed today.

On Wednesday, August 6, the British High Commission in Bridgetown, which serves as the UK’s diplomatic mission in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, announced sixteen scholarship recipients for 2025, three of whom are from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The three recipients from St Vincent and the Grenadines, who will undertake one-year Master’s courses at UK universities, are Ms Tevisha James, Ms Reenah Samuel, and Ms Joshika Hall.

On its Instagram page, today, August 7, however, a day later, the British High Commission announced that Vincentian Pallavi Browne is a 2025 scholarship recipient.

The post made on UK in the Caribbean, the official Instagram page of the British High Commission in Bridgetown.

It is not clear what caused the issue which appears to be an omission. Up to press time, the Facebook page of the High Commission still omitted to mention Ms. Browne whose image is also absent from the collage with all the 2025 recipients.

Additionally, no statement was issued at the time of this publication to explain the issue.

It means that there are seventeen (17) recipients of the UK Chevening Scholarship from Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean this year.

The August 5, 2025 post made on the official Facebook page of the British High Commission in Bridgetown.

Pallavi is a youth advocate from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She serves as the United Nations & Commonwealth Desk Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Consumer Affairs.

She will pursue an MSc in International Security at the University of East Anglia.

The British High Commission in Bridgetown serves as the UK’s diplomatic mission in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.

The Chevening Scholarships scheme is a global programme funded by the British Government. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals with leadership potential and enable recipients to undertake one-year Master’s courses in a range of subjects at UK universities.

The scholarships are funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and aim to support UK foreign policy priorities by fostering enduring and positive relationships with future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers.
