In a bold campaign declaration, Unity Labour Party (ULP) candidates Orando Brewster and Carlos James have announced a joint vision to transform the Leeward corridor through strategic infrastructure, tourism expansion, and job creation anchored by their continued partnership in government.
At a rally in North Leeward, Central Leeward candidate Orando Brewster rallied supporters with a message of unity and progress, declaring: “Just imagine what will happen in the next term when Orando and Carlos link up on the Leeward corridor to bring changes and development. Vote Carlos again.”
Brewster emphasised that the next term under a ULP government would deliver over 2,000 new jobs through resort construction and hospitality expansion, including Marriott and Sandals beach developments, a major boost for employment and tourism in the region.

The proposed resorts are expected to anchor a new wave of tourism investment, with Brewster confirming that Marriott and Sandals have expressed interest in expanding along the Leeward coast.
These developments will generate jobs in construction, hospitality, and support services, with training facilitated by the North Leeward Technical Institute.
“We’re not just building hotels, we’re building futures,” Brewster said. “Carlos and I are committed to making Leeward the heartbeat of development in SVG.”
North Leeward’s incumbent and Minister of Tourism, Carlos James, reiterated his commitment to rural empowerment through: Completion of the Sybill Hill North Leeward Highway and Cumberland Bypass by year end. Ongoing construction of the Golden Grove Bridge and upgrades to roads in Barricks, Belmont, and Sharpes. Redevelopment of Hermitage Road by local contractor Rick Williams, alongside improvements in Palmyra, Copeland, Top Hill, Lettwood, and Fall Piece.

James also highlighted the Belmont Depot as a key agricultural hub linking farmers to the tourism supply chain and confirmed that Richmond Quarry farmers have received land leases and compensation, strengthening their economic position.
The rally underscored the synergy between Brewster and James, with Brewster calling James “the man not only you need, but the man I trust to build with.” Their partnership is seen as a cornerstone of the ULP’s sixth term campaign theme: “Labour is Working for All”.
As the general election nears, the ULP’s Leeward candidates are positioning their alliance as a move for inclusive growth, rural revitalisation, and a tourism-driven economic development.
