Police in Kingstown are investigating the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Keith “Devon” James of Golden Vale, Calliaqua, after officers reportedly discovered a firearm, ammunition, a large quantity of cash and a suspected illegal substance during a subsequent search of his home on Friday, May 8, 2026.
According to a May 9 release issued by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), officers received reports of the shooting at about 8:06 p.m. on May 8, and responded to the area near the Anglican Church in Golden Vale, Calliaqua.
Police said they found James lying motionless on the left side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators recovered five spent 9mm shells from the area as part of the initial investigation.
A post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
Police said that, as investigations continued, officers executed a search warrant at the deceased man’s residence. During the search, they reportedly recovered one Glock pistol, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one firearm magazine, a substantial amount of cash including foreign currency, a night vision device, and a quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The police stated that the recovered items are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation, but noted that their connection to the fatal shooting has not yet been established.
Investigators are pursuing several lines of inquiry as they work to determine a motive and identify those responsible for the killing.
The police force extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and urged members of the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue.
