The Senior Education Officer for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Pearlette Primus Hannaway, has released the second instalment of an animated educational series aimed at introducing children and young people to career opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector.

In the latest episode, Nyla Explores: Adventures in Hotels and Resorts of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, young explorer Nyla and members of her TVET Club continue their educational journey across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

In this instalment, the group visits Grenadine House in Kingstown, where they are introduced to various aspects of hotel operations and customer service within a working hospitality environment.

Staff guide the students through different areas of the hotel experience, including housekeeping, food preparation and guest services. In one scene, Chef Kim tells the group, “Hospitality is art. And food is one of our finest canvases.”

The episode also highlights customer experience standards within the tourism sector, including food presentation, room preparation and guest interaction.

The Nyla the TVET Explorer series forms part of a wider effort to encourage young people to see the value of skills-based education and explore different career paths from an early age.

The series follows a young girl who learns about a range of professions through real-world inspired experiences. The animation highlights careers in areas such as construction, hospitality, agriculture and technology.

At its core, the initiative aims to introduce Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in a way that is engaging and relatable, while encouraging creativity, problem-solving and hands-on learning.

Educators locally and regionally have reportedly endorsed the Nyla series for its interactive and culturally relevant approach to learning.

Additional episodes are expected as the series continues to expand, with Nyla and the TVET Club exploring careers and life skills across St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The project is also being expanded through accompanying storybooks, which are scheduled for release on May 30.
