The Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries has announced the appointment of former national footballer Renson Haynes as Manager of the National Sports Council (NSC).
According to the ministry, Haynes brings extensive experience in leadership, management, operations, and project administration, having built a professional career in the United States in construction management, engineering administration, and large-scale project coordination.
Before Haynes, the position was held by former West Indies cricketer Nixon McLean.
The Ministry of Sports says Mr. Haynes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Central Connecticut State University. During his career, he has served in several senior leadership roles, including Director of Engineering and Construction Management at Andre John Architects in North Carolina and Assistant Director of Construction and Engineering Administration at Lincoln Center in New York.

The ministry said his professional experience includes overseeing multimillion-dollar projects, managing operational teams, coordinating procurement and budgeting processes, and maintaining stakeholder engagement and organisational oversight.
More recently, Mr. Haynes, through his organization Awesome Sports International, invited Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to SVG with an All-Star Six-a-side-Side football team for friendly matches. Out of that visit was born an opportunity for two leading young athletes who recently traveled to Jamaica to attend an athletics summit.
The press release from the Ministry of Sports said, In addition to his professional background, Haynes has a longstanding association with football in St Vincent and the Grenadines. He represented the country at the national level between 2001 and 2010 and later served as Manager of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Senior Menās National Football Team from 2021 to 2022.
Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, Hon. Kaschaka Cupid, welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Haynesā ability to contribute to the development of sports administration and infrastructure across the country.

The ministry said it looks forward to working closely with Haynes as the National Sports Council continues efforts to enhance sports development, improve facility management and strengthen the overall sporting landscape in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
