Inter-Primary cricket enters knockout stage as quarter-finalists emerge

The 2026 Inter-Primary Schools Developmental Cricket Competition has entered the knockout stage, with the eight quarter-finalists now confirmed following the conclusion of the preliminary round on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Division of Sports and Physical Activities, South Rivers Methodist School, Canouan Government School, Fitz Hughes Government School, Owia Government School, Georgetown Government School, Dorsetshire Hill Government School, Sion Hill Government School and Biabou Methodist School have advanced to the quarter-finals. The four quarter-final matches are scheduled to be played on Friday, June 5, 2026.

South Rivers Methodist secured their place in the knockout stage with an 85-run victory over Sandy Bay Government in Zone One. South Rivers Methodist scored 221 all out in 20 overs, while Sandy Bay Government could only manage 136 for 9 in their 20 overs. Jair Hackshaw led the bowling effort for South Rivers Methodist with figures of 4 for 13 in four overs.

Also in Zone One, Owia Government defeated Tourama Government by 55 runs. Owia Government posted 255 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Amallie Lavia scoring 65. Tourama Government replied with 200 for 9 in 20 overs, while Oriley Nanton took 3 for 12 for Owia Government.

In Zone Two, Pamelus Burke Government recorded a 22-run victory over Biabou Methodist. Pamelus Burke Government made 158 for 5 in their reduced allotment of 15 overs. Biabou Methodist replied with 135 for 6 when their overs expired. Enzo Thomas took 3 for 14 for Biabou Methodist, while Ray Peters claimed 2 for 11 for Pamelus Burke Government.

Dorsetshire Hill Government also finished the preliminary round with a convincing win, defeating Belair Government by 102 runs in Zone Three. Dorsetshire Hill Government scored 224 for 7 in their 20 overs, led by Zachary Gibson’s 24. Belair Government were then restricted to 122 all out in 19 overs. Uzziah Holder took 5 for 22.

Still in Zone Three, Belmont Government registered a 108-run victory over Gomea Government. Belmont Government amassed 254 for 3 in their 20 overs before limiting Gomea Government to 146 for 9 from their 20 overs.

In Zone Four, Canouan Government defeated Fair Hall Government by 76 runs. Canouan Government scored 175 for 6 in their 20 overs before dismissing Fair Hall Government for 99. Maggio Jackson took 3 for 11.

Elsewhere, Georgetown Government were awarded a default victory over Calder Government, while Clare Valley Government did not show for their scheduled match against Fitz Hughes Government.

The quarter-finals will be contested on Friday, June 5, 2026. South Rivers Methodist will face Canouan Government at the Stubbs Playing Field from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., while Fitz Hughes Government will meet Owia Government at the Sion Hill Playing Field from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Georgetown Government will take on Dorsetshire Hill Government at the Stubbs Playing Field from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while Sion Hill Government and Biabou Methodist will clash at the Sion Hill Playing Field from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
