A new generation of Scouts has officially joined the Scouting Movement in Georgetown, reinforcing the town’s longstanding connection to a programme that has shaped young people in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for more than a century.
According to a release from the Scout Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the milestone was marked on June 5, 2026, with the investiture of the Georgetown Secondary School Scout Troop, bringing together Scouts, leaders, parents and community supporters in a celebration of youth development, leadership and service.
The release said Chief Commissioner Sherron Morgan-Peters highlighted the important role Scouting plays in shaping responsible and productive citizens. Deputy Chief Commissioner Ave Weekes-Stephens also encouraged the boys to embrace the values of the Scout Promise and Law as they begin their Scouting journey.
The newly enrolled Scouts were further encouraged by Deputy Principal of the Georgetown Secondary School, Lornette Rodgers, who, according to the release, commended them for committing to the movement and challenged them to serve as positive role models within their school community.
The investiture ceremony was conducted by Deputy Chief Commissioner Ave Weekes-Stephens and Environmental/Training Commissioner Lemuel Providence. During the ceremony, the Scouts were formally invested into the movement and welcomed into the worldwide family of Scouts.

An additional highlight of the occasion was the investiture of Kieran Browne as Scout Leader. The release stated that Browne will join Kimique Allen in providing leadership and guidance to the troop, strengthening its capacity to deliver a quality Scouting programme and support the development of its members.
Georgetown holds a special place in the history of Scouting in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The movement was first established there on April 17, 1914, and the town is recognised as the birthplace of Scouting in the country. The enrollment of the new troop therefore represents a continuation of a tradition that has spanned generations.
Founded in 1907 by Robert Baden-Powell, Scouting is a global youth movement that promotes leadership, character development, community service and practical life skills. Today, the movement operates in more than 170 countries and territories worldwide.
The Scout Association expressed gratitude to the leaders, parents, educators and community members who continue to support the development of young people through the Scouting programme.
