St Vincent and the Grenadines’ official 2026 CXC examination results have been delayed after discrepancies were identified involving two schools and a number of subjects.
Education Minister Phillip Jackson says the Ministry of Education decided not to release the country’s customary overall preliminary results while the matter is being addressed by the Caribbean Examinations Council, CXC.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday August 27th, during his congratulatory announcements, Mr Jackson said the ministry had identified “two major discrepancies” affecting two schools, which he did not name.
He said the matter was discussed internally and CXC was immediately informed and is now working to correct the issues
The minister said releasing the results before the discrepancies were resolved could have affected how schools were ranked and compared with each other.
He said it would have been premature to publish the country’s overall results and then have to make changes afterwards.
Mr Jackson said the Ministry was working with CXC to resolve the matter as quickly as possible and would issue a press release once the final results were available.
The delay comes after questions were raised about the absence of official information on St Vincent and the Grenadines’ overall performance in the 2026 examinations.
While the Ministry has not yet released national or school-by-school preliminary results, Mr Jackson said individual students have already received their results.
According to the minister, students have had access to their results for more than a week and have been using them to apply to college, while parents are aware of their children’s results.
He said the delay was affecting the release of the official national data rather than students’ ability to access and use their individual examination results.
Mr Jackson said the Ministry would make the appropriate announcement once the discrepancies involving the two schools and the affected subjects had been finalised.
The official release is expected to provide the country’s final results after CXC completes the corrections.
