Young Vincentians aged 13 to 21 could walk away with up to US$500 by putting their mathematics, computer coding, and robotics and electronics skills to the test in a regional competition.
The Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF) is inviting young people between 13 and 21 from CARICOM and CARICOM Associate Countries to participate in the fifth annual Caribbean Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Olympiads.
The competition focuses on three areas — the Math Olympiad, Computer Coding Olympiad, and Robotics and Electronics Systems Olympiad — with individual competitors and teams competing for platinum, gold, silver and bronze medal certificates, as well as cash prizes.
Participants will compete at three age levels — 13 to 15, 16 to 18, and 19 to 21.
The Math Olympiad will challenge competitors to solve mathematical problems, while the Computer Coding Olympiad will give participants an opportunity to develop software-based solutions. The Robotics and Electronics Systems Olympiad will challenge teams to design and demonstrate working robotics or electronics projects.
The competition is open to individual competitors and teams from schools, clubs and associations, giving young Vincentians an opportunity to test their abilities against peers from across the Caribbean.
The CSF says the Olympiads are designed to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and encourage young people to develop their problem-solving and creative abilities.
“The primary objectives of the Caribbean STEM Olympiads are to assist with STEM education reform and science popularization in the Caribbean,” the Foundation said.
For robotics and electronics teams seeking financial assistance to purchase parts for their projects, September 28, 2026 is the early registration deadline.
The final application deadline for all competitors is November 30, 2026.
Preliminary elimination events are expected to take place in mid to late December, with the finals scheduled for January 11 to 17, 2027.
To help prospective competitors prepare, the CSF will host three virtual information sessions for students, teachers, principals, coaches and parents.
The sessions are scheduled for September 20, October 18 and November 15 at 7:00 pm Atlantic Standard Time and will provide more information about the competitions, clarify the rules, entry requirements and judging criteria, and give interested persons an opportunity to ask questions.
