In a statement sent on Wednesday, police confirmed that the deceased is Vernan Alexander, 56, of Largo Height.
Alexander is the man who was previously referred to only as “a 56-year-old labourer of Largo Height” in the police’s initial press release announcing the murder charge.
The RSVGPF asked media houses to update their records to reflect the victim’s identity.
Cordice was charged with murder after police alleged that on August 5, 2026, she caused Alexander’s death by striking him on the forehead with a piece of steel during an incident in Largo Height.
She appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on September 8, where she was not required to enter a plea because the offence is indictable. She was granted bail of EC$40,000 with one surety and ordered to report to the Central Police Station twice weekly, surrender all travel documents, and remain subject to stop notices at all ports of entry and exit.
The matter has been adjourned to September 24, 2026.
Cordice remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
