Leacock tells public sector workers to report to work

After earlier uncertainty, the Government has announced that public sector workers are required to report to work today, October 6.

According to a public notice issued by Major the Hon. St Clair Leacock, Minister with responsibility for the Public Service, public sector employees are expected to report for duty despite the inclement weather. 

Earlier today, the Government announced that all schools would remain closed because of continued heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions.

There has still been no official announcement regarding employees in the private sector. 

One News SVG will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Houses have been swept away a in Buccament Bay displacing several families. A family at Rillan Hill is also displaced.

Debris is being cleared off the streets of Kingstown. 

Many roads are impassable due to heavy rainfall and landslides.
