A 23-year-old man has died after an alleged attempted burglary at a medicinal cannabis farm in Dickson Village, Georgetown during the early hours of Friday, 16 October.
The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it is investigating the fatal shooting, which occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. at the CANNASVG cannabis farm.
According to police, officers responded to reports that two masked men, allegedly armed with firearms, had entered the property.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later identified as Joel Williams, 23, of Ottley Hall. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer.
Police said a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators believe the second alleged intruder fled the scene. His identity remains unknown, and police have warned that he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
Williams, the deceased, was previously before the courts in connection with a separate criminal matter. In January this year, the RSVGPF announced that he had been jointly charged with another man in relation to the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Carl Quow in Edinboro on February 6, 2025. He was also charged with the attempted murder of a 17-year-old student who was injured in the same incident.
At the time, police said Williams and his co-accused were arraigned before the Serious Offences Court. They were not required to enter pleas because the charges are indictable and were remanded into custody pending further court proceedings. There has been no public announcement that those matters had been concluded, and the charges remained before the court.
The circumstances surrounding Friday’s shooting, including who fired the fatal shots, have not been disclosed by police, and no arrests have been announced.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist investigators to contact the Major Crime Unit at 456-1810 or Police Control at 457-1211, extension 4876.
They have assured the public that all information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
