The Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) is encouraging Vincentians to support local performers and creatives by attending this year’s National Performing Arts Festival, as the bank reaffirms its commitment to the development of the country’s cultural sector.

Speaking at Wednesday’s November 4 opening of the festival, Patricia JohnMarketing Manager, representing BOSVG, said public support is essential to ensuring that Vincentian artists are recognised and given opportunities to develop their craft.

She urged the public to attend the performances and engage with the various presentations, stressing that supporting local creatives must go beyond applauding their talent.

“The aim is not just to applaud their talents, but to demonstrate that their work matters,” John said.

John said BOSVG was proud to continue as title sponsor of the festival in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, noting that the bank’s involvement reflects its belief that the arts deserve to be nurtured and Vincentian cultural heritage given room to grow.

She said this year’s festival, held under the theme “Reclaiming Our Legacy,” provides an opportunity for creatives to connect, exchange ideas and develop their talents.

She added that preserving the country’s cultural heritage is not the responsibility of artists alone, but a collective responsibility that requires the support and participation of the wider community.

The National Performing Arts FestivalConference runs from November 4 to 5.
